Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah named First Deputy Whip of Majority in Ghana's 9th Parliament

The Member of Parliament for the Ada Constituency, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, has been appointed as the First Deputy Whip of the Majority in Parliament. 

She will be working alongside Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, who is the new Majority Leader; George Ricketts-Hagan, the MP for Cape Coast South, as Deputy Majority Leader; Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, as the Majority Chief Whip; and Richard Acheampong, MP for Bia East, as Second Deputy Majority Whip.

This move aims to strengthen the leadership team within the Majority Caucus as they pursue their governance agenda.

Born on November 3, 1967, in Big Ada, Greater Accra Region, Cudjoe-Ghansah is a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics. She previously served as the Minister of State in charge of Social and Allied Institutions and has been a member of Parliament since winning her seat in the 2016 general elections, where she secured 80.42% of the votes cast.

Madam Cudjoe-Ghansah has an educational background that includes a Diploma in Stenographership from the Royal Academy of Accounting in Accra and a certificate in Radio and TV Presentation from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Her political career has seen her taking on significant roles, including serving on committees for Gender and Children, as well as Foreign Affairs. 

In 2013, she was appointed Minister of State by then-President John Dramani Mahama. She has also been active in community development, having presented educational resources to civil service offices and schools within her constituency.

In her tenure, she has addressed various community needs, including engaging with the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana to discuss initiatives for children's health and well-being. She has faced controversies, including accusations of bribery, which were dismissed after an investigation cleared her name.

She is a practicing Christian, married, and a mother of six, often engaging in initiatives aimed at promoting religious harmony within her community.
