The only female in the race, Madam Charity Mensah, 50,  is contesting Mr Solomon Fitsii Cobbina, 33,  the incumbent, and a banker, and Mr Bernard Mukwah, 35 a teacher.

The assembly election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2015 and will take place at all polling stations throughout the electoral area in the district.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Madam Mensah, aka Nyame Atse, appealed to the electorate to vote for her because the “men have failed them.”

She stated, “You already know how the men have failed you, so vote for me for a change for the better.”

Born on July 26, 1964 at Enyan  Denkyira, Ms Mensah observed that since the inception of the district assembly local governance system, no woman had attempted to contest the  Denkyira South Electoral Area seat and that the men who were voted into office had always ignored issues that affected women and children.

“I am bringing on board the woman factor to tackle issues of women and children, which, when resolved, would make life better for us all,” she stated at Enyan Denkyira last Sunday.

On sanitation, she accused the past and current assembly members  for failing  to provide  refuse dumps at identifiable locations for easy disposal of refuse.

She also observed that the whole electoral area lacked  public toilets to serve both visitors and citizens who do not have toilet facilities in their homes.

Ms Mensah said when elected, she would explore all avenues to get such amenities in the electoral area to boost her clean environment campaign.

She also expressed her readiness to embark on public education on teenage pregnancy.

This, she said, would reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy and the incidence of school dropout among girls in the area.
