Ajumako Omanhen, DCE resolve to work together

A feud that existed between the Omanhen of the Ajumako Traditional Area, Okokodurfo Oweabo Hammah Ababio II, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Ajumako-Enyam-Esiam District, Mr Peter Light Koomson, has been resolved amicably at a meeting at Ajumako.

This followed an appeal by Mr Koomson to the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, to intervene in the matter and settle the impasse in order to foster unity, peace and development in the area.

Daasebre Kwabu Ewusi, in his address at the meeting, commended Okokodurfo Hammah Ababio and his sub-chiefs for their patience and tolerance in the matter and expressed the hope that what happened would not occur again. He urged the feuding parties to live together peaceably in order to move the district forward.

Daasebre Ewusi, who is also a former member of the Council of State, asked the DCE to honour the promise he made sometime ago to provide Ajumako with  road and traffic lights.

The Omanhen of the Breman Esiam Traditional Area, Odeefuo Afankwah III, assisted Daasebre Ewusi in settling the matter. He urged the district assembly to draw up a development plan that would see Ajumako progress to fit its status as a district capital.

Okokodurfo Hammah Ababio said it seemed as if the district assembly had sidelined Ajumako in its development activities as it was not giving it the attention due it.

He said the positions of District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament were not above that of a chief, who is the custodian of the land.

He has, therefore, urged district chief executives and members of parliament  to accord chiefs the respect that they deserved and work in harmony with them to ensure peace and the speedy development of the district and the country as a whole.

Present at the meeting were the Adontehen and acting President of the Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area, Odeefuo Otsiwah III, the District

Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Prosper Mawuli Ahlijah, and the chairman of the Ajumako-Enyam-Esiam constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kobina Kwansah.
