DVLA extends service hours at 15 offices until 10pm under 24-hour economy push
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to extend its operational hours at selected offices nationwide, a move aimed at improving access to services and reducing congestion at its centres.
Under the new arrangement, which takes effect from Monday, May 4, 2026, a total of 15 DVLA offices will operate until 10:00 pm each day through a structured two-shift system. The initiative is expected to provide greater flexibility for motorists and clients who are unable to access services during regular working hours.
The affected offices are located at Narhman (near Haatso), Weija, Tema, Bolgatanga, Wa, Tamale, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, Techiman, Kumasi, Winneba and Tarkwa.
In a statement, the Authority explained that the decision forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery while aligning with the government’s broader 24-hour economy policy, which seeks to boost productivity and expand access to essential public services.
The DVLA encouraged the public to take advantage of the extended hours to transact business directly at its offices, noting that the measure is also intended to curb the activities of middlemen and improve transparency in service delivery.
It further indicated that all payments made after 5:00 pm will be restricted to electronic channels, urging clients to prepare accordingly when accessing late-hour services.
The Authority appealed for patience and cooperation from the public as it works towards the full implementation of a 24-hour service framework across its operational centres, adding that the reforms are part of a broader strategy to modernise its services and improve customer experience nationwide.
