EC cancels electronic transmission of results
The Electoral Commission (EC) has cancelled the procurement process for the Election Results Management System (ERMS) which was meant to electronically transmit election results from the various constituencies during this year’s general election.
According to a statement released by the EC in Accra last Thursday and signed by its Head of Communications, Mr Eric Kofi Dzakpasu, the three shortlisted companies failed to meet the criteria set for them by the assessment panel.
“The tenders submitted showed the need to significantly revise the scope of the project,” it said.
According to the statement, there were also concerns about the technical ability of the tenderers to perform the project satisfactorily.
“For the above reasons, the commission endorsed the unanimous recommendations of the evaluation panel and has decided to discontinue with the project,” it added.
However, the statement said “the commission will augment its internal capacity to deploy a modest results collation and transmission system for Election 2016.”
