Ghana Election 2024: EC issues revised media accreditation for constituency and regional collation centres

Media personnel assigned photo accreditation to cover Ghana's 2024 elections, can now use the same accreditation that gives them access to polling stations to also cover constituency and regional collation centres.

This follows a decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to revise media accreditation for constituency and regional collation centres.

The commission had last week decided to give out a different and special accreditation, that was going to give access to the collation centres at both the constituency and regional collation centres.

Even with that, it was a limited access - eight media houses per each constituency and 12 per each regional collation centre.

And that was going to go to only radio and television stations. Newspapers and online portals had been excluded from that accreditation.

But following further deliberations between stakeholders, the commission has revised the accreditation arrangement.

The new arrangement is that, any media personnel with the photo accreditation can access collation centres in addition to the polling stations.

The EC is desirous to maintain the highest level of transparency and accountability in its operations. The revised media accreditation aims to provide media personnel with greater flexibility and access to key Election Centres. This commitment is to ensure that the media can effectively cover the electoral process, and this change reflects that commitment.

Arrangements for media access to the National Collation Centre will be announced in due course.
