EC puts re-collation of election results at Tesano Police Depot on hold
Re-collation of election results for some constituencies at the Tesano Police Depot in Accra has been put on hold until further notice, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced.
There are some constituencies whose collation after last Saturday's presidential and parliamentary elections did not follow the legal process as enshrined in C.I. 127. There are others where collation on Election Day could also not be completed.

The inability to collate and declare results on Election Day which led to the re-collation at the Tesano Police Depot, according to the Electoral Commission was due to disruptions of the collation processes by political party supporters on Election Day and the days following.
Therefore, the Electoral Commission and the Election Security Taskforce agreed for election officers and political party agents to move to the Tesano Police Depot to re-collate the results for those affected constituencies.
At a press conference in Accra Friday morning [Dec 13], the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia for instance questioned the legality of the re-collation.
He described the process as illegal and inconsistent with Ghana’s electoral laws.
“We in the NDC believe that what is happening at the police training school amounts to illegality. It is not founded on any electoral law, nor is it based on any consensus reached by the parties and the Electoral Commission,” he stated.

The inability to collate and declare results on Election Day which led to the re-collation at the Tesano Police Depot, was due to disruptions of our collation processes by Political Party supporters on Election Day and the days following.
It is instructive for the Public to know that the Commission informed Political Parties of the change in location to the Tesano Police Training Depot after agreement with the Inspector General of Police and his Team.
Indeed all the Agents of the Political Parties observed the process yesterday, which resulted in the collation and declaration of results for the Fanteakwa North, Akwatia and Suhum constituencies.
