EC resumes collation in Ablekuma North, Presiding officers in 20 outstanding stations to verify scanned pink sheets

The Electoral Commission (EC) has invited presiding officers to the Greater Accra Regional office as part of efforts to resolve disagreements over 20 outstanding polling station results in the Ablekuma North parliamentary election.

This follows a disagreement over the results in the 20 polling stations, which caused the EC to suspend the collation process on Sunday.

The Returning Officer had asked for a 24-hour break to enable him to authenticate the scanned copies of the results (pink sheets), submitted by the parties.

The EC is expected to announce the winner of the parliamentary election today.

The Presiding Officers (PO) have reported with the statement of poll and the declarations for them to testify if the scanned copies submitted are their handwriting and the numbers on them are correct,

On Sunday, the Returning Officer was able to resolve 42 polling station results out of the 62, which were outstanding in the Ablekuma North constituency.

The remaining 20 had some objections, which necessitated the suspension of the process.

The Ablekuma North constituency is one of the four disputed constituencies, along with Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South.

The Returning Officer of the Ablekuma North Constituency, Vincent Obeng told journalists at the collation centre on Monday morning that "we are here this morning to resolve the issue with the Presiding Officers."
