Ejurahene advises Zongo youth against politicians’ selfish interests
The newly installed Chief of Ejura in the Mampong Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region, Barima Osei-Hwidie II, has advised Zongo youth to be wary of politicians who will use them for their selfish interests now that the general election is approaching.

He has also appealed to chiefs and elders in the Zongo communities to advise their subjects to desist from such negative venture so as to ensure peace and stability in the country.
Barima Osei-Hwidie said this when he and his elders joined worshippers of the Ejura Zongo community at the Ejura Central Mosque on New Year’s Day to say prayers to the Almighty God (Allah) for unity, peace and prosperity for the country.
The chief known in private life as Mr Enoch Osei-Mensah, is the Principal Protocol Officer of the State Protocol Department, Accra. He succeeded his grandfather, Nana Kwaku Sarfo Ababio, who reigned for 54 years.
Barima Osei-Hwidie, 48, who is also the Adontenhene of the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, said since time immemorial Ejura had been a violence-free area and urged citizens to ensure that they sustained and maintained that integrity.
He also reminded the entire people of the sub-traditional area not to allow their party affiliations to divide them.
He asked them to see the development of their community as paramount, adding that peace, unity and love were the only panacea for accelerated development.
Barima Osei-Hwidie reminded them of the unity and brotherliness prevailing among Members of Parliament, pointing out that though they had different political considerations they shared jokes, dined together, and related with one another beautifully. He, therefore urged the various party members and supporters at the constituency level to practise same.

Barima Osei-Hwidie commended the Zongohene, the Imams, the various tribal chiefs, the elders and the entire Zongo community for the support they provided during the burial of Nana Kwaku Sarfo, and his installation and swearing-in ceremonies at Ejura and Asante-Mampong respectively .
The Ejurahene assured to work in close collaboration with them as it was done by his grandfather, the late Nana Kwaku Sarfo who he succeeded and that his doors were opened at all times and further assured them of he and his elders preparedness to resolve any problem brought before them.
The Sarakyi Zongo , Alhaji Siragu Alhassan on behalf of the Zongo chiefs , elders and the entire Zongo Community welcomed the new Ejurahene and assured him of their support .
The Chief Imam assured Barima-Osei-Hwidie that the Moslems would continue to pray for him so that Alla would provide him with wisdom to administer the area.
Alhaji Mansuru Banda, the Imam for Banda and Wangara community for his part, said, they stayed with the new Ejurahene at Zongo for quite a long time and he was seen as somebody of upright character and therefore when his name came out, it was overwhelmingly accepted by the Zongo community.
The Ejura Zarakyi Samale (Youth Chief) Alhaji Iddrisu Kagiri ,said the youth were happy of the enstoolment of Barima Osei-Hwidie because they had got their contemporary who would champion youth development.
He noted that, they also stayed with Barima Osei-Hwidie at the Zongo and therefore was enthusiastic to welcome somebody they earlier had a good relationship with.
Furthermore , he emphasised that the chief should follow the footsteps of his grandfather, Nana Kwaku Sarfo, who related nicely with the Zongo community.
