Factor junior staff in training programmes

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, has asked district assemblies to factor the training of junior officers in all training programmes.

She said training both senior and junior staff would motivate them to give of their best.

Speaking to staff of the Assin North Assembly as part of her working visit to the district, she said it was important for directors and senior level staff to make conscious efforts to ensure the junior staff at the various assemblies were trained and retrained to promote the work at the assemblies.

She also called on the assemblies to institute motivational schemes to encourage the workers to do their best.

Partisan politics

Mrs Assan also advised the staff to avoid partisanship in the discharge of their duties.

She said partisan arguments and behaviours only retarded the development of the district and must not be encouraged.

She advised the district assembly to ensure the judicious use of its resources while ensuring proper accountability and transparency in their activities.

Workers

During an open forum, the workers appealed for a science laboratory for the Assin State College and a fire station for the Assin North District.

During her visit, she also called on the Assin Bereku and the Assin Effutuakwa Traditional councils and urged the chiefs to support the government's efforts at clamping down on illegal mining.

The Tufohene, Nana Frimpong Baah, appealed for factories to create jobs for the youth in the area.

He called for the construction of bridges in the area to link the villages to Assin Bereku to boost economic activities.

At the two meetings, Mrs Assan said her administration would commit to improving sanitation, youth and women's empowerment.

She expressed worry at the destruction of the River Pra and destruction to land and said all must support the fight against illegal mining to restore our forests and lands.
