Pay NABCO trainees' arrears to prove job creation prowess - Mahama tells Bawumia
The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on the Vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia, to pay the outstanding allowances of Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) trainees to prove that he is capable of creating jobs for the youth.
Speaking at a rally in Kwamikrom in the Biakoye Constituency in the Oti Region, the former President pointed to the plight of former NABCO trainees, who were still owed months of unpaid
allowances,as a sign of the administration’s failure to fulfil its commitments to young people.

Peave “Dr Bawumia talks about creating jobs but let him first pay the NABCO trainees who have been waiting for months for their allowances.
Ghanaians need proof before they believe any new promises,” Mr Mahama said.
He said it was not enough to promise the youth that their concerns would be prioritised when the government had refused, for months, to address the most pressing problems of NABCO trainees.
Mr Mahama also shared his concerns over Dr Bawumia’s absence from the recent National Peace Campaign launch which Mr Mahama attended after suspending his tour of the Northern
Region.
“Yesterday,I set aside my campaign to support the peace campaign, but Bawumia was a no-show.
Instead, he was off making promises to the youth. If he’s serious about supporting them, he should start by honouring the commitments already made,” he stated He said the absence of the VicePresident was a clear signal that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was not committed to what they preach.

“They begged us to try them, but this trial has become a curse. They’ve led us into economic hardship beyond anything we saw before,” he said. “When I was in office, kenkey cost
GH¢1; today,it’s GH¢5.Cement has gone from GH¢24 to GH¢110 and the cedi has fallen from GHc4 to GHc17 against the dollar,” he said.
He said the performance of the NPP, after begging for a chance to rule the country, should embarrass the Vice-President when he mounts platforms to campaign for votes.
“If I were in their shoes,I’d be too embarrassed to ask for votes after leaving the country in such a state. But instead, they campaign as if these eight years never happened.
We must hold them accountable and choose better for our future,” Mr Mahama said.
