He further called on Ghanaians to accept the ruling that the nine justices of the Supreme Court  would give on the 2012 election petition to demonstrate to the world that Ghana was democratically mature.

Delivering an adress at a thanksgiving service held at the Sunyani New Town SDA Church  on Saturday, as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the passing  of the late President Mills, Pastor Barfi noted that, that would be the only way to honour the memory of the late President John Evans Atta Mills as a “peace lover”.

The service was used to pray for the departed soul of late President Mills and his family, the Supreme Court Justices to give a ruling that would unite and preserve the peace of the nation, people in leadership positions, including the President, his vice and ministers of state to serve in humility and truthfulness.

Pastor Brafi in his sermon urged Ghanaians to forgive one another and to put behind them their political affiliation and rally behind the ruling party for the development of the nation.

He said the church was for the development, progress and prosperity of the nation and would,  therefore, continue to pray for the peace and unity of the nation.

The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, earlier in his address added his voice to the call on Ghanaians to accept the ruling by the Supreme Court on the 2012 Election petition for the sake of the peace and development of the nation.

He described the late President Mills as a father figure, a servant-leader, God-fearing, peace-loving and humble,  a legacy that all Ghanaians must uphold.

Mr Adjei said it was, therefore, important for everyone to “behave maturely” irrespective of the ruling that would be given by the Supreme Court and exercise restraint.

In attendance were some members of the Regional Security Council, Mr Kwasi Oppong Ababio, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani, the District Chief Executive for Sunyani West, Madam Agnes Kusi and the Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Opoku Attuahene.

In a related development, a choral music was held in the evening on Saturday at the Christ the King Cathedral in Sunyani to also mark the one year anniversary of the demise of President Mills.

The SDA, the Cathedral, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) and the Philharmonic choirs sang to entertain the audience which included a former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Justice Samuel Adjei and the Krontihene of Sunyani, Bofotia Boaposem.
