I am a man of peace : President Mahama assures Ghanaians

President John Dramani Mahama, on Saturday, said he would not tolerate violence in the 2016 general election.

“I am known to be a man of peace and I am committed to peace. I won’t be agent of violence in the election,” he said.

President Mahama said that when he paid a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli, at the end of a three-day presidential retreat in Ho.

He said he appreciated concerns from stakeholders on the need to ensure peace before, during and after the election and added that he remained true to the mandate given him.

Earlier, Togbe Afede appealed to all political parties to conduct their campaigns in a civil manner and also, tone down their exchanges and insults.

The retreat discussed challenges facing the country and code of conduct for ministers, among others.
