She accused Mrs Jean Mensa of incompetence and partisanship during the election process.

She suggested that if she was in her [Jean Mensa's] position, she would have simply resigned as she [Jean] said in her declaration of the presidential election results last Monday that, "it is finished".

"It should be finished for her [Jean] as well," Joyce Bawah Mogtari said.

When the interviewer, Umaru Sanda Amadu suggested that now that Jean Mensa has not resigned will there be steps towards that [to get her out],

Joyce Bawah Mogtari responded: "If there were elementary breaches, then she has no business being there and if you ask me, I personally think, from a very professional perspective, that everything to do with the EC, needs a complete reform and hopefully it will form part of the constitutional amendment process" John Mahama will undertake, she added.

She stated that a John Mahama led administration will prioritise comprehensive reforms at the Electoral Commission.

“I was thinking that the EC Chairperson was going to resign yesterday. Yes, absolutely… They [EC] have been incompetent to say the least. There are too many partisans there. The arm twisting. When the will of the people is up against you, there is nothing you can do,” Joyce Bawah Mogtari stated.

She pointed out that the delay in declaring the election results contributed to the pockets of violence observed across the country.

“One of the reasons we have these pockets of violence is that, it took too long for the EC to declare the results… If I were be in her (Jean Mensa) place, I would have [resigned]. Like she said it is finished [in her statement], it should be finished for her as well,” Joyce Bawah Mogtari added.

What Joyce said

"I was thinking that the EC chairperson was going resign yesterday... because we are in a circular state and I mean you spend all this time telling us what to do and what not to do. She traced the whole thing telling us that elections are a process... look my brother, they've been incompetent to say the least. There's been too many partisans there, the arm twisting. When the will of the people is up against you, there is nothing you can do. Look at the level of ... one of the reasons we have these pockets of violence is because it took too long for the EC to declare the results, they counted the presidential, by the time we all went to bed, we knew, the main vanquish had actually thrown in the towel, what were they [EC] waiting for?"

"... look at the cost of the ballot sheets that have been destroyed, burnt because of mistakes, elementary mistakes. Thank God for our technical team, they did a yeoman's job to put the EC in check.

Asked if the EC chair should resign, Joyce said: "I think that she should have, in her place, I would have [resigned]. Like she said, it is finished. It should be finished for her [Jean] as well."

"If there were elementary breaches then she has no business being there, if you ask me and I personally think, from a very professional perspective, that everything to do with the EC, needs a complete reform and hopefully it will form part of the constitutional amendment process" John Mahama will undertake, she added.

We ought to reset the EC and delete all the partisans who are in there. And she [Jean] herself has displayed enormous prejudice and bias towards the NDC, she should go and I think she ought to respect herself and leave.
