Mahama and Akufo-Addo to inaugurate national transition team
President-elect John Dramani Mahama and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will Wednesday afternoon inaugurate the 2024 National Transition Team, a key step in ensuring the peaceful transfer of power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The ceremony marks the start of a constitutional process designed to facilitate a smooth handover between administrations.

The National Transition Team, a constitutional body, is tasked with overseeing this critical process, including briefing the incoming government on state matters, providing access to essential government data, and coordinating the formal inauguration of the President-elect.
Addressing a meeting in the morning to introduce the team from the NDC side to President Akufo-Addo, President-elect Mahama reiterated his commitment to unity and national stability as his government prepares to assume office.
“Mr. President has given me a brief on the security situation, both internal and external, and also a short brief on issues having to do with the economy. The transitional teams will drill down further into these matters, and we are going to work together in the interest of Ghana to ensure a seamless transition,” Mr. Mahama said.
President Akufo-Addo pledged his government’s full cooperation throughout the transition.
“I assure him [John Dramani Mahama] of my full support and that of my government over the transitional process to make sure that his administration takes off in the best of condition,” he stated.
