Mobilise support for NDC victory in 2016 — Mawutor Agbavitor

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) must be prepared to work as a team to win the 2016 election, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, a runner-up in the Volta Regional chairmanship contest of the party, has stated.

In his view, 2016 would not be easy, looking at the dynamics of politics in the country, which called for all hands on deck in order for the NDC to retain political power.

Congratulating all the newly elected executive of the party in the Volta Region in an interview, Mr Agbavitor pledged his support and co-operation to the new executive, saying “I am available and will continue to mobilise support for the NDC .”

According to Mr Agbavitor, he was still committed to the issues he stood for and promised during the regional elections.

In this regard, he stressed the need for unity and empowering members economically to make the NDC more attractive.

He also said it was time the NDC won the hearts of first time voters as members of the party.

He also thanked delegates in the region for their support during the just-ended regional congress.

A founder member of the NDC in the Akan Constituency, Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, was elected the new Volta Regional Chairman of the party.

The businessman takes over from Mr Kwesi Aboagye, the out-going Chairman, after polling 179 votes to beat his close contender, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, who bagged 101 votes at the well-attended regional congress in Ho. 

The other contestants were Captain George Nfodjo who polled 86 votes, Mr Kwame Ampofo, eight votes and Mr Kosi Kedem, one vote.
