Jerry Rawlings and wife, Nana Konadu

Nana Konadu must come back home - Rawlings

Former President Jerry Rawlings, founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a subtle, almost light-hearted appeal to his better half, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to make a come-back to the party she played a cardinal role in its foundation and helping it win elections.

Mr Rawlings who made the wildly applauded appeal in Kumasi while addressing delegates at the NDC's 8th delegates congress, was apparently touched by the reaction of Madam Akua Donkor, founder and 2012 presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party, to claims by the General Secretary of the Convention People's Party, Mr Ivor Greenstreet that the country was facing unprecedented hardship, corruption at all levels of government and dumso dumso under the Mahama-led administration.

Mr Greenstreet was giving his party's goodwill message at the NDCs national delegates congress where in front of President Mahama and his Vice, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, he mustered the courage to tell the President that things have been extremely difficult for Ghanaians under his watch.

Enthused by the boldness of Akua Donkor, who said that the ordinary Ghanaian was the best judge of the good work of the Mahama Administration, Mr Rawlings after eulogising the woman called for her drafting into the NDC. According to Rawlings, while no one could begrudge his wife for deciding to break from the NDC owing to happenings at the time, he thought Nana Konadu was better off returning the fold of the NDC.

After addressing delegates, former President Rawlings plucked a white flower from the bouquet of flowers on the daise and romantically offered it to Madam Akua Donkor who had become the toast of delegates at the congress.
