Ghana’s two leading political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are set to cap off months of intense campaigning with simultaneous grand rallies in Accra on Thursday, two days before the December 7 polls.

NDC to “Reset Ghana” at Zurak Park

The NDC’s final rally, themed “Resetting Ghana – Let’s Finish Strong”, will take place at Zurak Park in Madina at 12 pm. High-profile party executives are expected to headline the event.

The NDC National Communications Officer, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi in a statement described the rally as an epoch-making event aimed at energizing the party’s base and emphasizing their agenda for governance.

He invited party faithful, sympathisers, and the general public to participate in what he promised would be a defining moment in the campaign.

The rally is expected to focus on the NDC’s vision to address economic challenges, tackle corruption, and provide what the party calls “a fresh start” for the country under Mahama’s leadership.

NPP’s “Possibilities Victory Rally” at UG Sports Directorate Park

Meanwhile, the NPP is hosting its “Possibilities Victory Rally” at the UG Sports Directorate Park, opposite the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The event is set to showcase the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration and reinforce the party’s vision under the presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Key figures expected at the rally include President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye in a statement described the event as a “historic programme” designed to energise supporters and sway last-minute undecided voters.

The NPP is banking on its record in economic management, infrastructure development, and social interventions to convince Ghanaians to extend its mandate.

High-stakes day in Accra

The decision by both parties to hold their final rallies on the same day and in the same city highlights the intensity of the 2024 election campaign.

With just days left until the polls, the simultaneous events are expected to draw massive crowds and dominate media coverage across the country.

Political analysts believe the rallies will serve as a critical opportunity for both parties to solidify their messages and galvanize their bases, particularly in the Greater Accra Region, which is seen as a key battleground.

The 2024 elections have been described as one of the most closely contested in Ghana’s history, with economic challenges, governance, and youth empowerment emerging as top issues for voters.

As the rallies unfold, the nation watches eagerly, knowing that today’s events could play a significant role in shaping the outcome of the December 7 elections.
