It was an all - white affair as the executive of the party clad in white attire and led by its flag bearer, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, sang and gave thanks to the Almighty God.

The national executive members who attended the service were the National Chairman, Dr Asare Bediako; National Women’s Organiser, Mrs Peace Aryee, and the Director of Communications, Maame Yaa Edusei.

The NDP said the occasion was its way of showing appreciation to God.

“Since the congress, we have not had the opportunity to give thanks to God for his graciousness. God has taken us through all the regional congresses, which culminated in the National Congress in Accra,” Maame Edusei told the media after the service.

She explained that the party also visited a mosque at Adabraka also in Accra, last Friday to give thanks to the Almighty God.

Meanwhile, Yakubu Abdul-Jalil, reports that Mrs Rawlings has called for change in the leadership of the country because life is hard and difficult for Ghanaians.

According to her, everybody in the country is sad because of the economic hardship occasioned by the incompetence of the current government.

“We want people to be happy so that this country will grow along with the people. The country can’t grow with infrastructure when people are impoverished,” she explained.

Congregation prayer

Mrs Rawlings made these remarks when she and some executive of the NDP joined Muslims at Adabraka in Accra for their congregation prayer.

The visit was to seek Allah’s guidance for her party and pray for a peaceful November 7 election.

Mrs Rawlings presented an undisclosed amount to the leadership of the mosque, along with four cartons of milk, a bag of rice and sugar.

Be decorous

She admonished the Electoral Commission to be decorous in its conduct of the election.

“As much as we want fairness in the forthcoming election, we have to pray to God that those in charge exhibit fairness. In the course of fairness we will get justice, in the course of justice we will have peace, and this is what we are praying for,” she added.

Commendation

Sheik Khidir Iddris, a leader at the mosque prayed for the NDP flag bearer and her entourage, as well as the country.
