No private drones will be allowed at the Black Star Square and its environs during the presidential inauguration on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the Ministry of National Security has announced.

In a statement dated January 2, 2024 and signed by Lily Fati Soale, the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry, it was explained that the directive applies to all drones, including those used for recreational and commercial purposes. 

The measure, according to the ministry is part of heightened security protocols aimed at ensuring the safety of dignitaries, invited guests, and the general public at the high-profile event.

The Ministry has called on drone operators to comply fully with the ban and adhere to all security guidelines to create a safe environment for the occasion.

The presidential inauguration is expected to attract local and international attention, with the presence of world leaders, diplomats, and notable public figures. The Ministry emphasized the importance of collective cooperation to maintain order and security during the event.

Drone operators found violating the directive may face legal consequences, as the Ministry reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement of the ban.
