Oti Bless retains Nkwanta-North seat for NDC

The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta-North, John Oti Kwabena Bless, has retained the parliamentary seat for the fourth time.

Although the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to officially declare him winner of the December 7 parliamentary election, provisional results from all 138 polling stations showed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislator has emerged victorious with 25,402 votes while his closest contender, Mr Nador polled 22,733 votes.

It is expected that the EC certified results will be declared in the next few hours.

Mr Bless won the seat for the first time in 2012 by beating the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s Joseph Kwaku Nayan who had held it for two terms (2004 and 2008).

In 2020, the NPP candidate Benjamin Munyum Nador, gave Mr Bless a run for his money and closed the over 8,000 votes gap to just over 1,600.

Ahead of the official declaration by the EC, scores of NDC supporters are out on the streets of Kpassa amid singing and dancing.

They have defied the dead of the night and gathered around the premises of the collation centre in anticipation of the official declaration.
