Otumfuo blesses Bawumia and NAPO ahead of Saturday's election
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has offered his blessings and best wishes to Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, as Ghana approaches its presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday.
Dr. Bawumia visited the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday to express gratitude to the Asantehene for his "wise counsel and encouragement" throughout his campaign, which officially concludes today.

Gratitude for decency and issue-focused campaign
Addressing Dr. Bawumia, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II acknowledged the Vice President’s earlier visit to seek his blessings before embarking on his campaign. The Asantehene expressed appreciation for Dr. Bawumia’s return to formally thank him.
"Before you started, you were here to inform me about your decision to contest for President. And before you started your campaign, you were here again to inform me and seek my blessings," the Asantehene said.
He also commended Dr. Bawumia for running a campaign focused on issues, noting that he had stayed true to his promise to present what the NPP has achieved and his vision for the country.
"I'm happy that you have done exactly what you assured me you would do. I thank God that you have completed your campaign successfully in all the 275 constituencies. The rest is in the hands of God," Otumfuo said.
Blessings for the election
Ahead of the election, the Asantehene reaffirmed his prayers and blessings for Dr. Bawumia, urging him to continue placing his faith in God.
"My son, remain faithful in God because it is God who installs kings. You have done your part to sell what the party has done for Ghana and what you also want to do to continue," Otumfuo advised.

"I have already blessed you. As you are here, I will bless you again. I urge you to place your affairs in the hands of God for God's power to manifest."
Call for unity
Otumfuo also urged Dr. Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to maintain their unity and commitment to working together.
"I want to advise you and your running mate that you should continue to work together and stay united. I pray to God and our ancestors to stay behind you so that whatever you are doing will be successful," Otumfuo concluded.
The Asantehene’s blessings come as Dr. Bawumia wraps up his nationwide campaign in preparation for what promises to be a closely contested election.
