Paulina Abayage presents letters of credence to Italian President
Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Italy, Ms Paulina Patience Abayage has presented her letters of credence to the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale Palace in Italy.
As part of formalities, President Sergio Mattarella welcomed Ms Paulina Abayage and congratulated her on her new assignment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy.
He said he was hopeful that Ms Abayage would use her experience to work to advance bilateral relations between Ghana and Italy.
He gave the assurance that his country would support her in the discharge of her duties.
For her part, Ms Paulina Patience Abayage commended the Italian government for her continued support to the government of Ghana.
Opportunities
She pledged to use her office to deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Italy in the areas of agriculture, trade, technology and education.

She said Ghana offered a viable environment for business, thus urging Italian investors to consider investing their businesses in Ghana.
Ms Abayage said Ghana has a very well developed human resource base to support businesses and investment activities, adding that doing business in Ghana further offers an investor, more opportunity to do business in the ECOWAS sub-region.
Touching on agriculture, she said the government’s flagship agricultural programmes, including the ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’, ‘One-District-One-Dam’ and ‘One-District-One Factory’ offer a greater opportunity for Italy to assist Ghana with its wealth of experience in agriculture, technology and industry.
Industrialisation
She said the government of Ghana had already received proposals from many countries and was hopeful that very soon, Ghana would become an industrial hub of Africa.
Ms Abayage said President Akufo-Addo was determined to move Ghana from being an aid-dependent country to an industrialised one, competing equally with others in the comity of nations.
She noted that Ghana still faces huge developmental shortfalls and gaps which the current government, under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo was working tirelessly to bridge.

She said Ghana considers Italy as one of her key development partners and that the two countries would continue to work cordially to better the lots of their citizens.
Following her presentation of letters on September 8, Ms Abayage on Sunday, September 10, 2017 joined the Ghanaian Catholic community and the Ghana Ecclesiastical Union, for a thanksgiving service, organized in her honour at the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Generalate at via Vertibi (1) in Rome.
