“Therefore, it is imperative for voters that have massed up at collation centres to be demobilised by the leaders of the major political parties to embrace this new situation to calm tensions,” it said.
As the country awaits the EC’s official declaration of the president-elect, it urged Ghanaians to remain united and prepared to celebrate the leadership and peace exemplified by the candidates.
The initiative also urged the EC to work diligently and expeditiously to finalise and validate the results of the 2024 elections.
That, it said, would ensure transparency and uphold public trust in the electoral process.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson, Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), Dr Angela Dwamena-Aboagye and the Executive Director, IDEG, Dr Emmanuel O. Akwetey, also said the acceptance of the results by both parties demonstrated a commendable commitment to peace and democracy.
“Once there is no contention between the political parties on the results, this new dawn should serve as an opportunity to consolidate national unity, build trust, and strengthen the foundations of our democracy,” it stated.
