Prez Mahama back from holidays

 

President John Dramani Mahama and his family returned home on Saturday after they spent the Christmas holidays in Dubai.

They were met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur; the Chief of Staff, Mr Prosper Douglas Bani; a Senior Presidential Advisor, Alhaji Baba Kamara; and the National Security Co-ordinator, Lt Col Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (retd).

Also present to welcome the President and his family were the Minister of Defence, Mr Mark Woyongo; the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Julius Debrah; the Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Mathew Quashie; and the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Alhassan.

The President took a short annual leave on December 23, 2013. In his absence, Vice-President Amissah-Arthur acted.

Activities in UAE

While in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Mahama met Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of the UAE in Dubai.

Their discussions centred on the promotion of tourism, oil and infrastructure development between Ghana and the UAE.

The two leaders also touched on how to modernise Accra to uplift its status.

President Mahama delivered his New Year message to Ghanaians from the UAE, and promised that 2014 would mark the beginning of many good things for Ghana.

He assured that urban transport network, maritime and port development, aviation, energy, manufacturing and business would witness significant development in 2014.

 The President asked all Ghanaians to join in “thinking and working for Ghana,” and stressed that "In this way, we can build a nation of boundless opportunities for all our citizens."
