Other executive members of the chapter are Mr Issaka Sani and Mr Peter Kumadzi.

The newly elected chairman of the chapter expressed his gratitude to the voters for reposing confidence in him.

He pledged to unite the chapter and transform it by making it more attractive and relevant to the national politics in Ghana.

A statement issued by the communication officer said, “The elections are over, there is no more competition. Let us all unite to chase the elephant once again into the bush and deliver Ghana from the corrupt and inept government of Akufo-Addo and the NPP.”

On her plans for the chapter in a telephone interview, Ms Atiah told the Daily Graphic she would ensure the welfare of the membership in the UK and Ireland chapter of the party.

As the former South London branch women’s organiser, she said fundraising would be one of her key assignments to build a robust financial base to support the election 2020 campaign.

“I will work with my executive members to ensure we empower the branches to develop strategies for an aggressive membership drive.

I will also be the voice of women within the party in the chapter,” she added. Ms Atiah, who is a social worker by profession, further expressed her commitment to support the youth wing to make it active and ensure transparency and accountability to restore confidence in the financial administration of the chapter.

The election was supervised by the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Mr Kwame Agbodza, who is a former Vice Chairman of the UK and Ireland chapter of the NDC, on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the party.
