Mr. Bagbin acknowledged the uncertainties that loomed during the electoral period but expressed profound appreciation for the divine intervention that ensured peace.
“I am happy that God has intervened in a rather very difficult election in this country. None of us thought this would be the outcome of the 2024 general elections, but as God would have it, it has happened,” he stated.
The Speaker urged all Ghanaians to reflect on both the successes and shortcomings of the year, emphasising the importance of unity in nation-building.
“My call to each and every one of us is to accept the results in humility, to agree that this is how the Almighty God wants it to be, and for us to reflect deeply on what went wrong and what went right,” Mr. Bagbin said.
He stressed the necessity of fostering unity to prevent divisions that could breed hatred, urging citizens to work collectively to build a stronger Ghana.
Ghana's democratic example
Reflecting on Ghana's democratic journey, the Speaker highlighted the nation’s 32 years of multiparty democracy and its role as a beacon of hope and inspiration on the African continent.

“Ghana is still seen as the Mecca of the Black race. We might have faulted, but people still look up to us. The fact that we are being eulogised by other countries is something that should uplift our spirits,” he noted.
Mr. Bagbin praised Ghanaians for maintaining the country’s reputation as a model of democracy, even in the face of governance and economic challenges.
