Bawumia on why he conceded early in Election 2024
The Vice-President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Presidential election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has explained why he conceded early in the just ended elections and said it was to preserve the peace of the country.
Dr Bawumia who was addressing members of the diplomatic corps who called on him this morning at his office at the Jubilee House in Accra said, the NPP, through its internal collation mechanism got to know at the dawn after the election that it had lost the election.

In that regard, he explained that waiting for the Electoral Commission (EC) to go through days of putting together its documents would lead to days of unnecessary tension, potential disturbances and violence.
Dr Bawumia said he was also concerned about the economic impact of any disturbances or violence in the country especially as the country was gradually recovering from the various challenges.
He said he was also concerned about the security implications for the sub region should there be any violence or conflict in the country, for which terrorists would take advantage and spread anarchy.
