The Black Wonders, as they are affectionately called, garnered nine points to ensure a successful title defence after beating Mali 3-1, Niger 5-0 before crowning it with a 1-0 win against Togo to lift the giant trophy and the $2,000 cash prize at stake.

The first and second runners-up positions went to Mali and Niger who took home $15000 and $1000 respectively as prizes.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Amuda Yusif Ibrahim, President of the West Africa Deaf Football Union (WADFU), expressed appreciation to all participants and the organisers of this year’s event.

Mr Ibrahim also presented plaques to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, and his deputy, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, as well as the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Joe Kpenge for their immense contributions towards the successful hosting of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mr Kingsley Asah, the deputy general secretary of the Ghana Deaf Football Association, was last Thursday appointed secretary general of the WADFU at the end of the four-day tourney.
