Da Rocha, who will be handling his first-ever club side in Africa, was recommended to the management of Dwarfs by a Ghanaian FIFA agent, Leslie Kuuku Bartels of Lesbart Sports.
He had his first African Football experience a decade ago when he was appointed the head coach of the Cape Verde national team from 2006-2007.
After a five-hour flight from Sao Paulo to Accra, Coach Da Rocha paid a courtesy call on the president of Dwarfs, Nana Sam Brew-Butler, before concluding negotiations with the club’s management, led by Nana Aidoo, last Wednesday.
Da Rocha’s modest coaching career, spanning almost 20 years, has also seen him managing clubs in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
In his playing days, he featured for Brazilian clubs such as Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama and Santos, among other teams, as well as Lazio, Cesena,Voterbesse Calcio and Pescara in Italy.
