‘Kotoko ready for new league season’: After impressive showing in Libya
Kumasi Asante Kotoko are confident the exposure from their tour of Libya will provide them with the cutting edge to recapture the Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors, who played Libya giants Al Ittihad in two separate games, losing the first leg 1-2 and drawing goalless in the second and last game last Friday, described the experience as rewarding and had galvanised their confidence ahead of the new premiership season.
Skipper Amos Frimpong summed up the feeling among his teammates when he stated “even though we lost our first game we showed in that game that we were set for our best season.”
"We have done a lot of work so far with encouraging results. Based on that I can say we are ready for the new season," the utility defender told Asantekotokosc.com.
He contended that Kotoko would be the team to beat this season in Ghana considering their impressive showing in their second friendly against Ittihad.
Libyan fans were full of praise for the Porcupine Warriors who, according to reports, displayed some delightful football last Friday.
Frimpong, who together with his colleagues, arrived back home last Saturday night said they were resolved to return Kotoko to their glory days.
Kotoko were welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by the executives of the Greater Accra Regional Circles Council (GARCC) and other supporters.
They have since left for Kumasi and are expected to resume training shortly.
