Senegal took the game to the Meteors from the blast of the whistle but failed to make any meaningful impact as they struggled to break the back of the Ghanaian defence.

Midfielders Kennedy Ashia, Richard Gedze and striker Patrick Asmah struggled to cope with the tempo of the game throughout the first half.

Back from recess the Meteors woke up from their slumber and came close to scoring but striker Patrick Asmah's effort went wide.

Senegal also came close thereafter as striker Cheingu Dieng and midfielder Sylvain Badji forced the best out of goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

Earlier at the Complex de Nautique Swimming Centre in Kintele, Ghana's Sowah Christa Kaimansa and Mark Ofosu Turum placed last in the 100metres freestyle and 100m backstroke swimming competitions in the heats.
