Kumasi Asante Kotoko booked their ticket to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup yesterday after beating bogey side, Asokwa Deportivo, 2-1 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Unlike previous encounters, Kotoko took a commanding 2-0 lead in yesterday’s derby.
Gama’s opener
Playing without suspended Coach Mariano Barreto and skipper Emmanuel Gyamfi, the Porcupine Warriors still managed to break the deadlock after 11 minutes through a spot kick converted by Brazilian playmaker, Fabio Gama.
This was after striker Francis Andy Kumi was fouled in the box.
In-form Evans Adomako increased the tally for Kotoko before recess.
However, the stubborn Division One side got a consolation goal in the second half.
