GHA cry for sponsorship to host Africa Clubs tourney

Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) President, Mr Richard Akpokavie, has made a passionate appeal to the corporate bodies and individuals to assist the association to raise about GH¢300,000 needed to organise the Hockey Africa Cup for Club Championship which takes place in Accra later this month.

He said funding had become very critical if Ghana were to host the 12-club continental competition which includes four Ghanaian teams.

The strained relationship between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and goalkeeper Ernest Sowah has taken a turn for the worse after the player wrote to the club requesting for a mutual termination of the contract between them which had one year to run.

The surprise request from Sowah last week came on the heels of a scathing attack on the goalie by Kotoko’s Chief Executive, Dr Kwame Kyei, who allegedly accused the player of bribery during last season’s Premier League clash between Kotoko and Liberty Professionals at Dansoman last season. Kotoko lost the match 1-2 with Sowah attracting a yellow card.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, has revealed government's plan to reward Isaac Dogboe handsomely after knocking out Cesar Juarez to win the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title last Saturday at the Bukom Boxing Arena with a fifth round TKO victory.

Isaac Dogboe made a strong statement last Saturday about his intent to capture the WBO Super Bantamweight title, taking out Mexican Cesar Juarez in five rounds after which he threw down the gauntlet to the Mexican champion, Jessie Magdaleno. 

He warned his next opponent that he was coming after him when they clash in a mandatory title defence in the United States in the next few months.
