Yakubu Mohammed described as  ‘great relief’ his goal that helped Kumasi Asante Kotoko record a 2-1 victory over Wa All Stars in their Ghana Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium last Saturday, as the team finally ended their winless streak at home.

The Chief Executive Officer of Bahmed Travel and Tours, Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh has questioned the rationale behind the senior national team (Black Stars) playing a "meaningless" friendly with Mexico on May 28 in Texas.

According to the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko board member, the Stars team would derive no benefit from playing an alternative Mexico side because their first team is currently involved in the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

Out of the nine league matches Kotoko have so played at their favourite home ground which used to be a Waterloo for many visiting teams, they have won only four and drawn five, including the recent match against Accra Great Olympics.

Coach James Kwasi Appiah says his Black Stars, are ready for their double-header international friendlies against Mexico and USA next week and that his charges will be going for both ‘performance and results’.

Black Stars off to US tonight

Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan, yesterday led a 19-man team to end their non-residential training sessions at the Accra Stadium before departing for the United States of America to engage Mexico and USA in international friendlies.

The Stars resumed training this week in preparation for Mexico at Houston's NRG Stadium in Texas on June 28, before locking horns with USA at the Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut, three days later.
