Nanevie donates ping-pong equipment to GTTF

Ghana's table tennis icon, Courage Nanevie, has presented a quantity of tennis equipment to the Ghana Table Tennis Federation (GTTF).

The items, worth thousands of cedis, include a robot machine, a set of 100 balls for multi balls training, four packs of three-star zhuxafa balls, two cans of water based glue, a modern random balls picker, a multi ball pan and a dozen of batteries to operate the robot machine.

GTF supports regional bodies

The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) has distributed assorted protective equipment to the various regional associations to help in the development of the sport across the country.

Equipment such as hand, chin, fore-arm and trunk protectors, as well as head gear were donated to nine regional executive members at a short ceremony held at the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) secretariat in Accra.

Due to the Africa Rugby Challenge at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Hearts, WAFA game has been shifted from Sunday to Monday, but it is still attractive enough to top the week 14 fixtures.

Two paralympic athletes get boost

 

Ghana's participation in this year's IPC Desert Challenge received a major boost following a timely sponsorship of an athlete by the Indian Women Association (IWA) last week.

The Indian women’s wing has presented a return ticket to one of the two athletes, Botsyo Nkegbe, who is expected to participate in the wheelchair racing competition with Maclean Atsu Dzidzienyo.

Bodybuilding: 5 for Arnold Classic in Johannesburg

Five bodybuilders will represent the nation at this year's Arnold Classic Africa Bodybuilding Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa, from Friday to Sunday.

Heavyweight champion and current Man Ghana, Cyril Kofi Adjah, middleweight Godwin Frimpong and William Osei Kankam and lightweight Michael Adu Parnell will be joined by female bodybuilder Barbie Bamfo, a bikini athlete, for the event.

A lucky Kenyan man, Samuel Abisai has won more than $2million (£1.5m) for correctly predicting 17 football matches in a competition run by betting company SportPesa. The payout is set to be one of the biggest in Africa. 

A statement from SportPesa says its CEO Ronald Karauri called the winner who was already celebrating.

Sulley Ali Muntari has been suspended by the Italian Serie A's Disciplinary Commission for walking off the pitch during a match between Cagliari and Pescara on Sunday.

Not only has Muntari's yellow card not been rescinded, a one-match ban has been handed to the Ghanaian while Cagliari have avoided any punishment for the racist chants.

The United Nations' top human rights official hailed Pescara's Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari as an 'inspiration' on Monday for leaving the pitch in protest after the player said he was booked for complaining about racist chanting.

USA confirms friendly with Ghana on July 1

The United States national team will play Ghana on July 1 in East Hartford, Connecticut, to prepare for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Monday.

Norvor appeals to govt for land - To build sports complex

Former national handball captain and Founder of Town Council Line volleyball team, Patrick Norvor, has appealed to the state for a parcel of land to construct a multi-purpose sports complex to engage the youth in sporting activities as a form of sustenance and recreation.

Mr Norvor, who is also an ace volleyball player, needs an urgent help from the state and stakeholders in sports to help him acquire a free piece of land to construct the sporting facility out of his own resources.
