Kwadwo Asamoah ready for Black Stars return

Juventus wing-back Kwadwo Asamoah has hinted that he is ready to make a return to the senior national football team, the Black Stars, after recovering from his injury troubles.

Nagging injuries had kept Asamoah out of the Stars squad for almost two years, and the Juve midfielder opted out of the Stars’ squad that participated in the 2017 African Cup of Nations last January.

However, the 28-year-old, who gave no timelines for his return, said he would join the team very soon after improving on his fitness during the last Italian Serie A season.

"Well, very soon I will return to the team when I receive the invitation. I stayed out of the team due to my injuries as I needed time to completely recover," Asamoah said in an address after picking up the Inspiration of the Year award at the 2017 Calcio Trade Ball in Accra.

"I didn't want to join the team half-fit, I wanted to fully contribute to the strength of the team, hence the decision to stay out. I feel stronger and much more fit now and can avail myself for the team. "

Asamoah, the most successful Ghanaian in Italian football (with five Scudetti and three Coppa Italia titles to his name) made 18 appearances for Juventus last season as they completed the Italian domestic double (Scudetto and Coppa Italia).
