Ayew's NAC Breda faces relegation

Andre Ayew and his NAC Breda side are staring at possible relegation from the Eredivisie with only two matches remaining in the season.

Breda currently sit 17th on the league table, six points behind FC Volendam, leaving their survival hopes hanging by a thread.

To avoid relegation, NAC Breda must win their remaining two fixtures while also hoping Volendam lose both of theirs.

The club’s difficult situation worsened off the pitch after they lost a legal appeal linked to their recent clash against Go Ahead Eagles.

Breda had argued that Go Ahead Eagles fielded an ineligible player and pushed for the match to be replayed. However, the Dutch court ruled in favor of the Dutch Football Association, upholding the federation’s authority and rejecting NAC Breda’s request.

The ruling effectively closed one of Breda’s final avenues of gaining additional points outside the pitch, further increasing pressure on the team heading into the decisive final weeks of the campaign.

Ayew, who joined the Dutch side to provide leadership and experience during the survival fight, now faces a tense finish to the season as Breda attempt to produce a dramatic escape from relegation.

With their fate no longer fully in their own hands, the club must now rely on both results and favorable outcomes elsewhere to remain in the Eredivisie next season.
