Black Queens eye redemption against Raja Monday

Ghana’s Black Queens are eager to bounce back from their heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Morocco as they gear up for a showdown against Raja Club Athletic Women on Monday, February 24, in Casablanca.

This encounter forms part of their intensive training tour in Morocco as they fine-tune preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Ghanaians put up a spirited fight against the Atlas Lionesses in Casablanca last Friday but were undone by a last-gasp winner from Saoud Imane in stoppage time.

Despite creating early chances, with Doris Boaduwaa and Sherifa Sumaila testing Morocco’s defence, they were repeatedly denied by the impressive Fatima Ezzahra in goal.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren will be looking to use today’s match to assess his squad’s resilience and tactical adaptability, as the team aims to sharpen its edge ahead of the continental showdown in July.

Their opponents, Raja Club Athletic Women, represent the women’s wing of Raja Casablanca, one of Morocco’s most decorated football clubs, boasting a rich history that includes three CAF Champions League titles.

With the pain of Friday’s defeat still fresh, the Black Queens will be fired up to make amends, restore confidence, and send a strong message ahead of their continental campaign.
