Bournemouth to accept £70m Tottenham offer for Semenyo?
Tottenham Hotspur have been told Bournemouth are prepared to accept offers of around £70 million for Antoine Semenyo this summer.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 25-year-old’s future following the arrival of Thomas Frank at Spurs.
Interest from Frank’s side comes as “no surprise”, while other clubs are believed to be interested, but it will not be an easy deal to pull off.
Former Spurs scout, Mick Brown, told, Football Insider on 10 June that Tottenham will step up their move for Semenyo after being handed the opportunity.
However, after losing Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid while Milos Kerkez is expected to join Liverpool, the Cherries are extremely reluctant to lose more star players.
This comes after Brown first told Football Insider in October that Bournemouth could price Tottenham out of signing Semenyo with a hefty asking price placed on his head.
Brown told Football Insider in April that Liverpool have joined the race for Semenyo alongside the likes of Spurs, Man United and Newcastle this summer.
The Ghana international enjoyed a breakout year with Bournemouth where he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists across 42 appearances in all competitions.
O’Rourke has explained Andoni Iraola’s side are not going to let him go easily this summer and will do all they can to deter the growing interest.
“He’s another player who is on the list of targets for Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s had a great season for Bournemouth, there’s no getting away from that, but Bournemouth don’t want to lose him.
“They’ve put a £70 million price tag on his head to try and ward off potential suitors.
“If Tottenham are willing to meet that £70 million asking price, then a decision will have to be made.
