
Francis Akwasi Opoku joins leadership of Ghana Golf as Vice President
The Ghana Golf Association (GGA) has elected new executive council members to steer its affairs for the next three years, with Francis Akwasi Opoku emerging as Vice President. The elections took place during the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on September 18, 2025 at the Achimota Golf Club.
A legal practitioner and experienced amateur golfer, Mr Opoku currently serves as Director of Legal Services and Solicitor Secretary at the Ghana Cocoa Board. He is also a former Captain of the Celebrity Golf Course, where he distinguished himself both as a player and administrator, winning several amateur golf competitions over the years.
The new executive team, whose tenure begins on 1st January 2026, will be led by Leonard Kwaku Okyere as President and Rodney Oddoye as Honorary Treasurer. Both Okyere and Oddoye were re-elected to continue their respective roles in the new term.
The Ghana Golf Association Secretariat congratulated the new executives, expressing confidence in their ability to build on the Association’s current progress and further promote the growth of golf across the country.
