Ghana Premier League: Medeama rally to beat Chelsea at home

Medeama SC extended their lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Tarkwa T&A Park yesterday.

Faisal Shaibu handed Chelsea a surprise lead in the 33rd minute after a lapse in concentration from the home side.

But Medeama staged an impressive second-half fightback, with Jacob Mensah Amu heading in the equaliser in the 57th minute before Salim Adams sealed the win with a stunning strike 13 minutes later.

The win pushes Medeama to 26 points—two clear of Aduana Stars—while Chelsea slip further into the relegation zone as their struggles continue.

Despite conceding early, Medeama had demonstrated attacking intent from as early as the 18th minute, making several dangerous incursions into Chelsea’s half but failed to convert their chances.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s decision to introduce Braye Sulemana for Kelvin Yeboah after the break proved decisive, as the substitute’s energy helped tilt the momentum in Medeama’s favour.

Their persistence finally paid off as Amu rose highest to power home the equaliser, before Adams completed the turnaround with a thunderous long-range effort that sent the home fans into raptures.

Medeama will look to maintain their momentum as the title race intensifies, while Chelsea face increasing pressure to salvage their season and climb out of danger.
