Golf: Mordzifa wins MTN Invitational tourney
Justice Mordzifa made a bold statement at this year's MTN invitational golf tournament when he drove home 37 points to win the competition at the Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono, near Tema last Saturday.
Playing with a handicap of 12, the up-and-coming golfer effortlessly manoeuvred the lush green course to secure his first major title while Jack Yang Lin put up a valiant fight, but his core of 36 points, playing with a handicap of 11, could only secure him the second spot on the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, Francis Amuzu's unwavering determination paid off as he claimed third place through a countback, finishing with 35 points while playing with a handicap of nine.
The ladies' category witnessed an unexpected turn of events, as veteran Letitia Amponsah-Mensah had an off day, allowing Nadia Kwei-Sam to steal the spotlight. Playing with a handicap of 27, Kwei-Sam's impressive score of 32 points secured her a well-deserved victory.
Mercy Werner, with a handicap of 13, clinched the second position with 31 points, while Patricia Adusei-Poku claimed the third spot with the same score but with a handicap of 28.
It was quite an easy game for Hai Yu Yu as he won the Men's Group B game with 42 Stableford points and a handicap of 26. He secured the second position with a commendable score of 38 points and a handicap of 17. Abdul Aziz Amankwah, playing with a handicap of 20, secured the third spot with 35 points.
Mercy Werner showcased her finest golfing abilities on the day, earning the honours for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin in the women's category. In the men's category, Solomon Allotey picked the prize for the Longest Drive while Dr Amoako Mensah claimed the Closest to the Pin honours.
The acting Business Chief Executive of MTN, Daniel Asare, expressed his appreciation to the golfers for participating and assured them of the MTN Ghana's continuous commitment to supporting the growth of the sport and also play a leading role in the telecommunication sector.
