Kingzkid out with Spiritual Songs EP

THERE’S nothing quite like the thrill of hearing a hint of a beloved old hit in a brand-new song, where nostalgia meets fresh creativity in a way that instantly hooks the listener.  That’s what Ghanaian urban gospel artiste Kingzkid has succeeded doing on one of the songs on his new EP, Spiritual Songs.

The song, Blood,  starts with a sample of Lord Kenya’s Medo, creating a nostalgic connection while delivering a strong spiritual message.

Spiritual Songs, which was released earlier this month blends spirituality with contemporary urban sounds and is already gaining attention among fans, especially with the release of the video for The Blood.

Other songs on the EP Explain Taya, Burning, and Living Water (Drill Prayer) each touching on different aspects of faith.

According to Kingzkid, he decided to keep this body of work short and intentional because the EP’s message required a focused approach.

“Spiritual Songs EP is too delicate a project to be overpopulated. It was carefully curated to give its listeners an out-of-this-world experience and the four songs delivered perfectly,” he explained to Graphic Showbiz in a chat on Sunday, April,19.

The EP is inspired by Ephesians 5:18-19, which encourages believers to express their faith through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. True to this inspiration, each track carries a strong message that deepens faith while remaining accessible to young listeners.

The Blood highlights the power and significance of Christ’s sacrifice, while Explain Taya focuses on grace. Burning reflects on the presence and fire of the Holy Spirit, and Living Water (Drill Prayer) blends prayer with drill-inspired rhythms.

Kingzkid believes this fusion is part of his mission. “I believe that has been our assignment from the beginning,” he said, pointing to his consistent effort to redefine what spiritual music can sound like.

Over the years, Kingzkid has built a reputation as one of the pioneers of Afrogospel and Hip-Hop gospel in Ghana and across Africa. Since releasing his debut single I Depend On You in 2010, he has grown into a leading voice in the urban gospel space.

He has released three studio albums including Vindicated in 2011, Metamorphosis in 2014 and Breakthrough in 2021. His work has earned him several accolades, including the Gospel Academy Awards Best International Act in 2019.

Beyond music, Kingzkid has also made an impact through his annual outreach tour, Amplified, which has reached thousands of young people over the years, inspiring them to pursue purpose and faith
