I want to lead Ampem Darkoa to win NWL — Adubea

Striker Princella Adubea says her focus this season will be to lead Ampem Darkoa to win the National Women's League title, rather than finishing as the top scorer.

Last Sunday, Adubea opened her scoring account with six goals as she led the Techiman-based team, Ampem Darkoa, runners up in last season's competition, to beat debutants, Subayo Golden Ladies 7-1 in their encounter at Techiman.

And moments after the match, she told Graphic Sports that she was happy with her goals, her joy will be made complete if she was able to lead the team to be crowned champions.

"Of course, I'm happy with the way we started and my performance, but for me, the best news will be to help the team win the title. We lost the final to Hasaacas Ladies by a goal and I was so sad by that loss. This season, the signs are looking good. I hope I can only maintain that form to help Ampem Darkoa be crowned champions," she said.

Adubea, currently one of the consistent scorers for the Black Queens, missed the top scorer's award by a goal to Fabulous ladies' Sandra Owusu-Ansah and from the way she has started, could be an unchalleged winner of the ward this season.

Her close challengers on the opening day had two goals as Salomey Kotey scored both of Immigration Ladies' goals in their 2-1 win against Halifax. Alberta Tetteh scored for Halifax.

Ruth Anima also scored a brace for Ashtown Ladies as they beat Real Upper Ladies 2-1. Gladys Appiah scored Real's goal.

Lily Niber-Lawrence, Veronica Appiah, Samira Suleman and Ama Bennie Appiah scored in Hasaacas' 4-0 win over LadyStrikers while Bafana Ladies' Yidam Asante and Samaria Ladies' Isabella Lamptey scored for their sides in the 1-1 draw game.

Cynthia Adobea and Rita Okyere got the goals for Prisons Ladies as they beat Lepo Ladies 2-1.Feruza Nuhu scored Lepo's consolation goal.
