I'll build on sustainability and consistency – Says Hearts’ new coach Didi Dramani
Newly appointed Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has stated that his mission is to establish a consistent and sustainable football philosophy that will span both the senior team and the club’s youth structures.
Speaking at his official unveiling on Monday, July 30, the two-time Ghana Premier League-winning coach emphasized the importance of safeguarding the club’s rich tradition while laying a foundation for long-term success.
“I will seek to understand the board’s vision, which represents the direction of the club, and work to establish a clear path rooted in consistency and sustainability. It is our responsibility to uphold that—particularly through the implementation of comprehensive technical programmes that will develop both individual players and the team,” Dramani said.
While recognizing the foundations already in place at the club, he affirmed that he and his technical staff would focus on strengthening those structures. He stressed the importance of a clear developmental pathway from the youth teams to the senior side.
“Under Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club are Oaks FC, Royal Oaks, Auroras, and the first team. Our goal is to ensure vertical integration from the youth levels to the top, which requires clear direction, consistency, and a more sustainable approach across the board,” he explained.
He assured fans that the club had already begun laying the groundwork to consolidate its structures and build upon past achievements.
Dramani also expressed gratitude to the board for granting him the autonomy to select his technical team and called for continued support to foster a winning culture within the club.
Coach Dramani has already begun preparations for upcoming assignments, including the President’s Cup match against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend, as well as an international competition in Nigeria.
The 59-year-old former Black Stars Assistant Coach and Black Galaxies Head Coach signed a two-year deal with Hearts of Oak, with the mandate to restore the club’s fortunes following a period of underperformance.
The event also saw the official unveiling of members of Dramani’s technical team: First Assistant Coach Abdulai Gazale, Goalkeepers’ Trainer Najahu Issah, Video Analyst Peter Adu Boafo, and Team Manager Henry Mantey.
Dramani replaces Aboubakar Ouattara, who has been re-assigned as a Special Advisor to the Hearts of Oak board following the conclusion of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season. Hearts of Oak finished fourth in the just-ended campaign.
