The board of directors of Kotoko has given the coach the nod of approval by renewing his contract for another season, which will keep him at the club for three years and ensure stability on the technical bench.

Confirming his new deal in an interview with the Daily Graphic yesterday, Coach Dramani said the show of faith in him by his employers had fired him up to give of his best for the Porcupine Warriors in both domestic and continental campaigns.

The Kotoko board has also improved the remuneration of the coach as a way of motivating him to extend the club’s dominance in the First Capital Plus Premier League and FA Cup which he won last season.

“It is now official that the board has written to me to extend my contract after the two-year contract I signed with Kotoko expired. My remuneration has also been improved. The target now is to do my best to retain the two trophies won last season and also perform very creditably in Africa,” Dramani said.

He also indicated that following the renewal of his contract, plans were far advanced to recruit new players to strengthen the team to win more laurels .

The coach, however, refused to disclose the identities of players he had penciled down to beef up the team, saying until negotiations were completed, it would be unprofessional to make the names public.

On what he would do to ensure that Kotoko extended their dominance in domestic competitions to the continental level, the coach was emphatic that playing in Africa was a different ball game and required a higher level of preparation and performance to make an impact.

“A lot of things need to be put in place to enable you perform in Africa. You should remember that  in Africa we play against the best clubs, so it is not as easy as you see it,” he explained.

He said besides presenting quality players, their level of fitness, motivation and the right budget, among others, were the factors that galvanise players to outshine their opponents and win laurels.

“We have been doing our best so far in Africa, but that has not been enough to satisfy our numerous fans. Our inability to meet their expectation has been because we have not factored in other mechanisms that will enable us to conquer the top clubs we meet in Africa,” he explained.
