Local female players receive GH₵500 YEA allowance
Five hundred female footballers in Ghana’s elite league have received their monthly stipend of GH₵500 from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
This is the first of the monthly stipends they are expected to receive over a six month period as a form of mitigation against the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
It would be recalled that the National Sports Authority (NSA) in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cushion the players in the women’s league from the impact of the COVID-19
Under the MoU, 500 female players in the women’s league were expected to receive GH₵500 each every month with the stimulus package, while 500 other athletes from various other lesser-known sports are also expected to benefit from similar package.
This has, however, been fulfilled according to the communications bureau of the local football governing body.
In all the YEA is expected to invest ₵3,000,000 into the stimulus package for the 1000 beneficiaries over the six month period.
