Martha Bissah in action Sat; In finals of the National Athletics Championship

Olympic gold medalist, Martha Bissah, will lead the charge in the finals of the National Athletics Championship tomorrow at the Tamale Sports Stadium as local athletes compete for slots for the All Africa Games (AAG).

The competition, which is being organised by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) and sponsored by Interplast and Sea&Shore, had earlier been held in Sunyani, Akatsi and Accra to select the best for Saturday’s final.

Only the top eight in each event throughout the competition will participate in the finals which are aimed at keeping the athletes in shape ahead of the All Africa Games.

Other top home-based athletes, including Africa javelin silver medalist, Mary Zuta Nartey, Africa 4x100m relay bronze medalist, Beatrice Gyaman, and the likes of Shawkia Iddrisu, Sakat Lariba, Kwadwo Acheampong, who participated in the last Commonwealth Games are all expected to compete.

Over 128 male and female athletes will battle for honours in the finals in their respective events.
In the male division, triple jumper, Martin Etsey, 3000m runner, Prosper Goku, Daniel Eshun, Awudu Bachela and Emmanuel Gyefa will all be in action
