In a bid to strengthen international relations, foster inclusivity among member federations, and enhance football development in Africa and beyond, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has opened its first-ever permanent African regional office in Rabat, Morocco.

FIFA's new office in Rabat is seen as a game-changer for African football, as it will provide technical and administrative support to local federations while promoting the growth of the sport across the continent.

The agreement to establish the office was finalized on Monday between FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Morocco’s Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, with both leaders signing the official documents.

Experts view this development as a reflection of Morocco’s commitment to solidifying its position as a regional and global sports hub, particularly following its success in hosting several major international sporting events.

Morocco’s latest milestone further reinforces its growing presence on the global football stage, as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

The opening of FIFA's first permanent African regional office in Rabat marks a significant chapter in the history of African football, signifying the continent’s continued strides toward new heights in the sport.
